O‘AHU – With the number of day programs available for children on O‘ahu, both parents and kids are able to enjoy their own vacations.  From surfing lessons to learning about O‘ahu’s rich cultural history at world-class museums, there are various activities offered that were especially created with kids in mind.  With mom and dad around or not, these fun-filled programs will be sure to keep the kids entertained.  Below are some highlights of activities designed exclusively for kids.

 

The Honolulu Zoo

Children age five through 11 can spend an exciting week or day exploring the wild animals of Honolulu Zoo.  This "day camp" offers a partial day session and an all-day session.  The short session focuses on the care of zoo animals, behind-the-scenes encounters and the importance of conservation and saving endangered wildlife.  Longer sessions may include animal games and art projects.

Sea Life Park Hawai‘i

Ever wondered what it’s like to be an animal trainer?  With a paying adult, kids eight to 12 can feed and snorkel with stingrays; hung, kiss and watch a dolphin perform tricks; get up-close to adorable penguins and sea lions; and have the exclusive opportunity to see the Wolphin, a hybrid cross between a whale and a dolphin.

Dolphin Quest

Daily Dolphin Quest programs at the Kāhala Hotel & Resort offer an array of activities with dolphin education as the focal point. Each child is provided an opportunity to interact with these amazing animals in the comfort of the shallow waters through touching, feeding, and game playing.

Waikīkī Aquarium

Whether by day or night, inside or outside, the Waikīkī Aquarium makes learning about the aquatic life of Hawai‘i and the tropical Pacific fun and exciting.  The Waikīkī Aquarium offers a variety of classes and programs including overnight sleepovers and excursions.

Honolulu Academy of Arts
Hawai‘i’s premier art institution knows how to make museum visits fun for the kids.  The Academy has created seven themes for kids to choose from including “Animals,” “Heroes,” “Landscapes,” and more.  Each child is given a custom kit that makes exploring the museum fun and enjoyable.

USS Arizona Memorial
Upon entering the USS Arizona Memorial, children are given a Junior Ranger activity book to complete that will take them on a historical journey to remember what happened that fateful day on December 7, 1941.  Children can earn an
official Junior Ranger Badge and become an official Junior Ranger of the USS Arizona Memorial.

ResortQuest Hawai‘i – “Stay, Play, & Eat Free”

The new ResortQuest Kids – “Stay, Play & Eat Free” program offers children ages 12 and under free activities, meals and merchandise (when accompanied by a paying adult) to top family attractions, restaurants and Hawai‘i retailers.  All families with children 12 and under will receive an identification card for each child at check-in upon arrival.  Participating vendors include Sea Life Park, Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, Dixie Grill, Hilo Hattie, and more.

Starwood Hotels – Keiki Aloha Program

With the Keiki (children) Aloha program, children between the ages of five through 12 can spend part of their vacation doing fun, educational and cultural activities.  The extremely popular program offers off-property excursions year round.  At The Royal Hawaiian, Sheraton Waikīkī, Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort, and Sheraton Princess Ka‘iulani, children can experience a wide range of activities such as hula and lei making, catamaran sailing and surfing in the morning.  The excursions will take keiki to such places as the Honolulu Zoo, Bishop Museum and Waikīkī Aquarium.

Hyatt Regency Waikīkī Hotel – Camp Hyatt

Camp Hyatt offers a variety of activities to keep your keiki busy while having loads of fun.  Games include a variety of board games, including a selection of Hawaiian games and crafts, which teach some of the basics of the Hawaiian language and culture in a fun and easy way.  Camp Hyatt also includes a DVD library with a wide selection of Disney and other children’s features as well as Nintendo games.  The Camp Hyatt Library contains classic books, which children love to read.  A Hawaiian children’s book collection has also been recently added.  In addition to coloring books, crayons, colored paper, glue, scissors and markers, Hawaiian craft projects treat campers to a slice of Hawaiian culture.

Hilton Hawaiian Village – Rainbow Express

Hilton Hawaiian Village’s year-round children’s program, Rainbow Express, is offered daily for keiki, ages five to 12.  Once children register and receive their “Rainbow Express Passport,” they can experience educational and recreational activities, all with a Hawaiian focus.  Activities include arts, crafts, nature walks, wildlife feedings, fishing, and visits to Bishop Museum, Waikīkī Aquarium and Honolulu Zoo.

JW Marriott Ihilani Resort – Keiki Beachcomber Club

Celebrate the vibrant wonder of youth with the Keiki Beachcomber Club.  The program hosts supervised international activities for guests between four and 12 years old.  Activities include


treasure hunts, hula dancing and crafting lei to Karaoke, sports and crafts.  Children will engage in diverse activities while making friends with other children from around the world.

The Kāhala Hotel and Resort – The Keiki Club

Outrigger Hotels & Resorts – Island Explorer Program

Outrigger's Island Explorer program is designed to get kids and their parents out discovering Hawaii's unique natural environment. Turtle Bay Resort – Keiki Turtle Club

The Keiki Turtle Club at the Turtle Bay Resort offers Hawaiiana projects, arts and crafts and outdoor activities for kids between five and 12 years of age.  Some of the activities include building gigantic, exploding volcanoes out of sand, lei making and hula lessons, exploring the tide pools for underwater creatures, and a night at the beach complete with a campfire and s’mores. Full-day and half-day programs are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and an evening program is available on Saturday.
